WBVHA
West Bengal Voluntary Health
Association
(WBVHA) established in 1974 is a charitable, non-profit making and secular
organization. WBVHA is a state level health promoting lead agency to provide support service
for the promotion and implementation of primary health / community health throughout the
state of West Bengal as well as in neighbouring states and country. It operates with the
active support and involvement of NGOs / CBOs and co-operation from Government and
corporate sector. WBVHA enjoys official relations with Government of West Bengal,
Government of India, and maintains close ties with UNICEF and other national and
international organisations.
- WBVHA is associated with more than 250 NGOs engaged in
health care.
- WBVHA has 18 districts Resource Centres in each districts to
facilitate work in the district level.
- WBVHA supports and monitors 25 NGOs work on community
health.
- WBVHA supports and monitors 9 NGOs work on Reproductive
Health.
- WBVHA works with 50 schools in School Health Promotion.
The primary objectives of WBVHA are to
promote community health, social justice and human rights related to the provision and
distribution of health services in West Bengal. It stimulates a large section of people
towards a scientific attitude to health, without ignoring West Bengals natural
traditions and resources.

- WBVHA served as a member of the SCOVA Committee in the Dept.
of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal.
- WBVHA presently acts as a Nodal Agency of Ministry of Health
& Family Welfare, Govt. of India to help NGO on RCH activities.
WBVHA observed its Silver
Jubilee celebration two years back in 1999 with participation of the
friends, well wishers, associates, members and fellow working partners
worldwide. |
